Owing to the seemingly unending crisis in the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) which led to the recent indefinite suspension placed on the General Secretary Olugbenga Olatunji for anti-federation activities and the registration of fake delegates for the 2015 World Archery Congress in Copenhagen, the World Archery Federation (WAF) has officially waded into the matter.
In a letter to the NOC Secretary General Hon. Tunde Popoola, and signed by the WAF Sec Gen. Tom Dielen, the world ruling body has decided to send a high ranking mediator to Nigeria very soon to mediate on the matter, while urging all parties to suspend all other activities capable of tarnishing the good reputation of World Archery until the mediator has concluded his assignment.
“I therefore urge all our loyal members, coaches, archers, patrons and archery enthusiasts to respect the decision of WAF as conveyed to us by the Nigeria Olympic Committee and to desist from any further action or actions on the matter, trusting that the World Archery Federation as a signatory to the International Olympic Committee Charter will get to the very last detail to resolve all outstanding issues on the NAFED crisis.
“Furthermore, I wish to urge you all to wait patiently on the World Archery and The Nigeria Olympic Committee on all issues relating to this matter,” the statement read.
