UN Welcomes Deployment of British Air Force Aircraft in S’Sudan

The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Tuesday in Juba welcomed the temporary deployment of a British Royal Air Force C-130 aircraft to South Sudan.
The UNMISS said the aircraft, which arrived in Juba, on Sunday would conduct daily flights to Malakal in Upper Nile State.
The Mission said the aircraft would help in the delivery of vital supplies and vehicles to the UNMISS base and its ‘Protection of Civilians’ site.
It said the operation was expected to last until mid-April to prepare for the rainy season.
During the rainy season60 per cent of roads in South Sudan would be impassable and Malakal would only be reachable by river barges.
