The people of Ajikobi Ward in Ilorin West Local Government area of Kwara State said they no longer believe in Saraki’s dynasty to give political directions for chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC chieftain, Alhaji Omar Aiyelabegan whose family compound is next to Saraki’s Agbaji Compound at a press conference Monday, in the State capital said Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President never got the people’s mandate to be their political leader.
Aiyelabegan, said even the people chose to be silent at the self-imposed leadership of the Saraki family and indeed, that the Senate President never reciprocated it with meaningful physical development in Agbaji and environs.
He lamented that Dr. Bukola Saraki only would come at election time to embark on cosmetic empowerments that could not make the life of the people better, few months after elections.
“Kwara people are never given the chance to make representations on matters that concerned them in government either at the executive or legislative levels.
“I had been in Saraki’s opposition since 1992. Like the Saraki’s, Nigerian politicians only think and talk of themselves and not about the people”. Aiyelabegan said.
According to him, the people of Kwara State had spoken loudly during the last Local Government elections when Saraki’s candidates lost woefully and even at the Senate President’s voting booth.
The Kwara APC chieftain however cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of those who were once followers of Bukola Saraki both in the State and at the national level who claim to be APC and yet loyal to Saraki.
“The National Chairman and the Secretariat should not make the mistakes of the past by treating fake loyalists with glove in hands while the committed ones were neglected”, he pleaded.
He cited the case of Dr. Saraki and the governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed who pushed aside committed members of APC since 2015 and settled for charlatans, and their friends from outside the State thereby making the president and ruling party unpopular among the citizens.
