Some unknown men reportedly attacked an electoral officer in Ife East Local Government and collected result sheet from him.
The electoral officer identified as Mr. Awolusi was said to be taking results to the final collation centre when he was attacked.
Before his arrival, there had been panic that he was kidnapped or absconded with results.
Reacting to this, All Progressives Congress in Osun accused the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ife central Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi of organizing an attack on the Electoral Officer in order to manipulate the results of the election for the Ife central district.
The party in a statement by the Media Assistant in the Election Situation Room, Mr. Kunle Owolabi, said Sunday night that the Electoral Officer whose name was simply given was initially feared to have absconded as he did not show up at the final collation centre where the results of the poll in the senatorial district would have been announced.
The party claimed that “it did not take long before Awolusi reappeared and claimed that some unknown men attacked him on his way to the Collation Centre and took over the result sheet from him and mutilated it.
“This has held up the announcement of the result for the district but we know their plan. It is all to falsify the result in order to given victory to Fadaunsi who has been roundly defeated by our candidate, the incumbent Senator Jide Omoworare.”
The party said those who wanted to falsify the result have forgotten that a duplicate copy of the mutilated result was available.
“The action and plot by Fadahunsi is an effort in futility. Our party had won and the result is out and it cannot be changed,” the party stated.
