Taraba NUJ protests against govt impunity on members

The Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Thursday, staged a peaceful protest against Government impunity on members.

Daily Times gathered that the protest was in response to the directive by the national leadership of NUJ, mandating its members nationwide to protest against government mischievous acts and police brutality on members of the Pen Profession.

According to our Correspondent, members converged at the NUJ Press Centre, Jalingo, walked through Roadblock area, chanting slogans and carrying placards with various inscriptions like “Enough is Enough”, “Press Freedom, Police Release Ogundipe”.

Addressing members at the Press Centre, the State Chairman, Jovita Shafe, said nobody could imagine a situation without the press and that the government can’t function without the press.
