Stop abusing social media-Wole Soyinka blasts Nigerian youths [Video]

Nobel Laurette, Prof Wole Soyinka has expressed displeasure with the way Nigerian youths approach and abuse the new media.

According to a video shared on #Revolutionnow convener, Omoyele Sowore’s twitter handle on Thursday, August 13, Soyinka said that youths should distant themselves from distractions and ask questions about their society.

Daily Times gathered that Soyinka was passing a message to the youths as International youth day was celebrated yesterday, August 12.

He said, ”They must understand that in order to replace a leadership that has failed no matter where, they must use different methods.

”They must learn to approach the community on their own basis, not only by spraying money they don’t have, they should use the technology such as social media, instead of abusing it.

”They wake up in the morning and the first thing they do is try to be the first to comment and their comment is vapid, unserious and usually abusive. Instead of analysis, arguments on social problems.”
