Chelsea hammer Spurs to lift League Cup

Jose Mourinho lifted his first trophy since returning to Chelsea as his side beat Tottenham 2-0 in the League Cup final at a wet Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

After Christian Eriksen’s free-kick hit the Chelsea bar, captain John Terry fired the Premier League leaders ahead when Spurs failed to clear a corner.

The ambitious Blues extended their lead when Spurs defender Kyle Walker diverted Diego Costa’s shot into his own net to give Blues a deserved 2-0 win.

Spurs rarely threatened a fightback as Chelsea won 2014-15’s first silverware.

Mourinho, who returned to Stamford Bridge at the start of last season after spells at Inter Milan and Real Madrid, has now led the west London club to seven trophies in his two spells.
