Disgraced former US cyclist Lance Armstrong has admitted that he is deeply sorry for the many things he has done, after a report by Cycling Independent Reform Commission (CIRC) revealed how the American and cycling’s world governing body, Union Cycliste International, colluded to circumvent doping accusations against him from 1999 to 2009.

The 227-page report has claimed that the UCI colluded with Armstrong not only to circumvent doping accusations but also to cement the former cyclist’s status as the pre-eminent personality in sport.

Armstrong, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping, said that he is deeply sorry for many things he has done.

However, the former cyclist added that it is his hope that revealing the truth would lead to a bright, dope-free future for the sport he loves.
