In line with the determination of Imo State Police Command to completely eradicate all manner of crime and criminality in the State, a gang of fraudsters who specialise in defrauding innocent people have been nabbed.
The syndicate whose name were given as Bennett Okere (57), John Arinze (38) Angela Emmanuel (29), Eboh Chioma (F) 35, Bartholomew Nkwocha (35) and Chinelo Ani (42), were alleged to be in the business of posing as money doublers and subsequently defrauding their victims.
They however met their waterloo when they picked on a woman (name not disclosed) talked her into patting away with 13 million naira and disappeared without any trace.
The woman was said to have reported her ordeal to the Imo State Police Command where immediate investigation was launched into the matter. The investigation paid off as the suspects were rounded up following a tip-off by informant.
Two bags containing fake dollar notes were also recovered from the suspects. According to the State Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Andrew Enmerem, the suspects will be charged to court after thorough investigation.
He however advised residents of Imo state to be wise so as not to be deceived. He called for more support and cooperation with the Police to fight crime in the state.
