Sickle cell, cancer children get N7.5m donation from school

As parts of its Corporate Social Responsibility and charity works, Avi-Cenna International School recently presented cheques of N7.5 million to two local charities after another successful year of fundraising in School.

According to Principal their Mr David Ogburn, the money was raised from the events and donations from students and parents.

Their Chairman, Mr Darwish Foudeh, and Ogburn, the principal, presented a cheque of 5 million Naira to Dr. Nwobi on behalf of the Children Living with Cancer Foundation while another cheque of 2.5 million Naira was presented to Prof. Olu Akinyanju and Dr. Annette Akinsete representing the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria.

The Principal, Mr. David Ogburn said both organisations are dependent on financial contributions from the community and we are delighted to contribute our time, effort and money to such great causes.’

In the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, Ogburn said Avi-Cenna school also installed a new Domestic Science laboratory at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital as well as Oxygen Supply System to Ikeja High School adding that they their gets its students involved in charity works such as provision for orphanage homes especially during festive period.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Akinyanju expressed gratitude to the school management and assured judicious use of the money while calling on other corporate bodies to emulate such kind gesture.
