The South-East, South-South Professionals of Nigeria (SESSPN) has called for regional integration and economic development of the region to make it a global investment destination.
The association made this call at the 2nd edition of the South-east, South-south Development Forum ongoing in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
In the opening address by the President of the association, Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Ojo, he revealed that the aim of the association is to transform the region into a global investment destination thereby attracting investors.
‘The advantages of this investment strategy are immense and is certainly the most practical approach to jump-starting the long overdue economic revolution of ours;
He however called for strong political will from decision makers in the country
‘For this vision to be realised, it requires a strong political will and leadership from our political leaders, partisanship has to take back seat to common interest of the region to enable adoption and faithful implementation of the elements of the plan that require public sector actions and commitment’ he said.
The Chairman of the organising committee of the programme Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa urged all to bury their old hatchet and in their place project a new roadmap for the regional integration and economic development of the region
‘The transition of this beautiful dream to reality is what this very forum is set to achieve. In real essence, what the situation demands is our mutual co-operation to fully unleash our potentials, human and material-wise on the world stage through a new framework of an integrated economy.
Our region should no longer be associated with militancy, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism and other forms of criminalities that seems to have framed our image in the recent Nigerian history.
