Senator urges Buhari to declare state-of-emergency in Zamfara

A former member of the National Assembly, Sen. Saidu Dansadau, has urged the Federal Government to declare a state-of-emergency in Zamfara over incessant killings in the state.

Dansadau, who is the Chairman, National Rescue Movement (NRM), made the call while briefing newsmen on the state of Zamfara on Thursday in Abuja.

He recalled that he had in 2016 written to the Presidency for a state-of-emergency in the state and appoint a competent administrator before the killings and destruction got worse “but the call was not heeded’’.

He said that between 2016 and June, 2018, 2,992 people had been killed, 682 villages sacked by the “enemies’’ and N1, 161, 305, 200 collected as ransom for kidnapped persons.
