Unlike in the past where he and his wife would be physically present, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his wife Oluwatoyin, were conspicuously absent at the prayer session to mark his 55th birthday, at his GRA home in Ilorin Tuesday.
Also, absent was the Kwara State Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed, who has always played the role of the Chief host on previous occasions.
The absence of the celebrator and the host notwithstanding, the Senate President’s political associates and supporters, gathered to celebrate the milestone with special prayers. For one hour 7:00 to 8:00 am, they made supplications to God on his behalf.
Although no reason was advanced for their absence, a director in the Saraki’s Mandate Constituency office, in Ilorin, said the event was planned to be low key.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, however, led the pack of dignitaries that graced the occasion.
Imam of Agbaji, Alh Ameenullah Tantolohun led the special prayers
The Imam beseeched Almighty Allah to bestow upon Saraki divine wisdom and guidance to enable him succeed in steering the ship of the state and national polity.
The cleric urged Saraki to always seek divine help before taking decisions and prayed Allah to elevate him.
In a congratulatory message, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad expressed delight that the Senate President has been able to sustain his late father, Dr Olusola Saraki’s legacies.
Ahmad in the message signed by his media aide, Shuaib AbdulKadir noted that “it is one thing to be given birth to by responsible parents and another thing entirely to sustain the legacies and good name of such parents, whether alive or not.”
The Speaker said Saraki in all ramifications has justified his essence of being alive today (yesterday), stating that since venturing into politics, he had served both Kwara and Nigeria in various capacities very well.
Describing Saraki as an achiever who the present generation could be proud of, Ahmad stressed that as each day passes by, Nigerians are witnessing his sterling leadership qualities as the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly.
Ahmad stated that for several years to come, the senate president would not only be relevant in the scheme of things owing to his experience but would continue to be appreciated.
