Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently meeting with state governors and other council members in Abuja in a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting. The meeting, which is still on at the time of this report, started at the Council Chamber of the State House at around 11am.
About 23 state governors were present when the meeting started. These include Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Abubakar Mohammed of Bauchi, Willy Obiano of Anambra, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu and Abdufatah Ahmed of Kwara.
Others were Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa. While the discussions on the agenda at the meeting could not be immediately ascertained, there is no doubt that it would centre around the current economic challenges and the way forward.
The governors will also give an insight into what the government can do to save the situation.
