Rashford signs new Man Utd deal

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2020, with the option for an additional season.
Rashford’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the 2016-17 season, but the young striker has been rewarded for his fine performances this campaign with a new and improved contract.
The 18-year-old came through the ranks of the United youth academy and made his official first-team debut in the 5-1 Europa League win over Midtjylland back in February, scoring twice.
He has since gone on to score eight goals from 18 appearances in all competitions, earning a call-up for England’s provisional Euro 2016 squad in the process.
“I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true,” Rashford commented on his new deal.
“I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself. To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”
The full-back went on to make 14 appearances for the first team and also picked up the Under-21 Player of the Year award at United’s end-of-season awards.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was delighted with the renewal of the club’s most promising youngster and is confident he will have a bright future at United.
He said: “Marcus is a naturally talented footballer with great potential. He has taken his chances well and has integrated into the first team very quickly.
“I am delighted that Marcus has signed a new contract. He is still very young and we need to be patient but he is developing in the right way and we believe he has a great future ahead of him.”
