Stop the Blame Game over Electoral Loss…PPN Tells PDP

Gladiators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been advised to stop the blame game over the defeat of the party in the March 28 Presidential election.

Instead, they should concentrate on joining forces with other political parties to form a formidable opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) whose Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu won the election and would take up the saddle of leadership on May 29.
National Secretary of the People Party of Nigeria (PPN), Hon Razak Eyiowuawu in a statement enjoined the PDP stakeholders to take the path of honour rather than fouling the air with comments that will further dwindle the fortunes of the party and put them at a disadvantage in future elections in the country.

According to the national scribe of the party whose Presidential candidate, Prince Kelvin Allagoa stepped down for President Goodluck Jonathan in the run up to the election: “ It is better they (PDP) keep quiet and find a way to bring themselves together and form a formidable opposition, they need to come together as one and give courage to those who won elections at all levels”.

Eyiowuawi, who was the governorship candidate of PPN in the last governorship election in Ogun State said it is embarrassing the manner PDP leaders from different parts of the country are trading accusations over the party’s loss at the polls and wondered if the scenario would be the same if the party had won.

“It is worrisome that PDP which had been managing the affairs of the country in the last 16 years will now be throwing brickbats over electoral loss, it is normal in politics and it has happened to almost all big political parties in the world”, he said, adding: “All what they (PDP) need is to go back to the trenches and adopt new strategy that can win elections”.
On the part of PPN, the national secretary said the party is seriously studying the outcome of the last general election in order to come out as a major force in 2019. “Nigerians will soon hear from us”Eyiowuawi promised.
