A socio-political group, the Association for a Better One Nigeria (ABON) has endorsed the presidential ambition of a former Bauchi State governor, Malam Isa Yuguda for the upcoming 2019 presidential election.
The group made the endorsement in a text which was read by itsnational president, Comrade Danjuma Mohammed in Bauchi.
The president of the association said they arrived at the decision after thorough consultation with stakeholders across the country, saying, “following our objective and dispassionate assessment of all the presidential candidates who have so far indicate their interest for the seat of the President ahead of 2019 presidential election which include the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Bauchi State governor Dr Isa Yuguda, former Jigawa State governor Alh. Sule Lamido and others.
“And after our broad based consultations with relevant stakeholders across the country and after a close watch to their interesting antecedents and monumental contributions to their respective states in particular and nation at large which can be gleaned from fact and dexterity with which they served their father land.”
He added “we the above name association, with exceeding joy and gladness in our hearts, unreservedly pass a vote of confidence on the former governor of Bauchi State, Mal. (Dr) Isa Yuguda and unanimously without reservations endorse him as our sole candidate ahead of 2019 presidential election.”
Comrade Mohammed said the decision to endorse Yuguda’s candidature became imperative considering his intellectual capability, unparalleled commitment and vast knowledge in politics, believing that Yuguda is a detribalised Nigerian who doesn’t attach sentiments or ethnicity while dealing with any citizen and has both national and international acceptance.
The group expressed their resolve to correct mistakes of the past where leaders were chosen regardless of what they have to offer.
“The experience of 2007, 2011 and 2015 still remain fresh in our minds. We have not had the opportunity of being governed by a willing and ready leader, but only those that can best be described as “accidental leaders”, the mantle of leadership fell on them all by default or uncontrollable circumstances not minding their capability, experience no expectant of such elevation,” the text read.
The group warned Nigerians to stop supporting any presidential candidate who does not hold the country’s interest at heart but rather, somebody that can mold the country for generations to come.
