Former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George said he is favorably disposed to the nomination and confirmation of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, saying that there is no rift between him and the erstwhile minister of state for defence.
Reacting yesterday to reports that he, alongside some other PDP leaders in the state are reaching out to opposition lawmakers not to confirm his nomination, George said whosoever is linking him with such move is not making sense and was only planning to divide the party.
Speaking through his media adviser, Prince Uthman Shodipe, the PDP chieftain said he has nothing against Obanikoro, adding that the post-primary crisis in the party has since been resolved.
“The man (George) has been out of the country for the past two weeks and I’m wondering how and why any right thinking person will link him with Obanikoro’s ordeal.
“For the records, George has nothing against Obanikoro. He comes around to greet Baba and we always meet at rallies. There is no crisis in Lagos PDP. The common goal is for us to take over Lagos and in all fairness, Obanikoro has been doing well for the party and it will be a big leap for the party if he becomes a minister.
“Bode George is disposed to Obanikoro becoming a minister because it will help the party in the state and at the federal level. The opposition is not making sense, they only want use divide and rule tactics but we have moved beyond that.
“Nobody in Lagos PDP can campaign against him becoming a minister because he is standing with us now and we are all together. He is campaigning with Agbaje everywhere and mobilising people. He is doing well for the party,” he said.
