Bode George denies blocking Obanikoro’s screening

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has said that there is no rift between him and the erstwhile Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
He added that he was, favourably, disposed to the nomination and confirmation of Obanikoro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While reacting to news reports that he led some PDP leaders in Lagos State to a meeting with some opposition lawmakers, who were to prevent Obanikoro’s nomination, George said whoever was linking him with such move was only trying to divide the party.
Speaking on Monday, through his Media Adviser, Prince Uthman Shodipe, the PDP chieftain said he had nothing against Obanikoro, adding that the post-primary crisis in the party had been resolved.
“The man (George) has been out of the country for the past two weeks and I’m wondering how and why any right-thinking person will link him with Obanikoro’s ordeal.
“For the records, George has nothing against Obanikoro. He comes around to greet Baba and we always meet at (political) rallies. There is no crisis in Lagos PDP. The common goal is for us to take over Lagos State and in all fairness, Obanikoro has been doing well for the party and it will be a big leap for the party, if he becomes a Minister.
“Bode George is disposed to Obanikoro becoming a minister, because it will help the party in the state and at the federal level. The Opposition is not making sense, they only want to use divide-and-rule tactics, but, we have moved beyond that.
“Nobody in Lagos PDP can campaign against his becoming a minister, because we are all together. He is campaigning with Agbaje everywhere and mobilising people. He is doing well for the party,” he said.
