Politicians in the country have been charged to imbibe the spirit of concession, as displayed by President Goodluck Jonathan, sequel to the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.
A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Ernest Okechukwu Ezenwa, recalled that President Jonathan, who was the presidential candidate of the PDP, had conceded defeat and congratulated the winner, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of All Progressives Congress (APC), hours before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, officially announced the winner.
Barrister Ezenwa, who stated this on Monday, during an exclusive interview with our reporter in Awka, advised politicians to see politics as a call to render selfless services to humanity, and not as a do or die affair, even as he described the outgoing President as a true democrat and an epitome of transparency.
Ezenwa further urged Nigerians to forget about the outcome of the National Assembly election and vote for all the candidates of PDP on Saturday, stressing that his party members were grassroot oriented politicians with prerequisite experiences to steer the ship of Nigerians.
The former PDP House of Assembly aspirant in Aguata 1 State Constituency, while congratulating the winner of Anambra North Senatorial poll, Dr. Andy Ubah, and his counterparts for Aguata Federal House of Representatives, Eucharia Anazodo, also enjoined the electoral umpire to ensure that the loopholes which characterised the National Assembly election would not surface on SaturdaY.
