Police arraign man over shop-breaking


The police in Osun, on Wednesday, arraigned one Tosin Odedare, 27, before Modakeke Magistrate Court for allegedly breaking into a shop.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt Oba Glory told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offence on March 22, 2016, around 2:00 p.m. at Orisumbare Quarters, Modakeke.

Glory said that the accused broke into one Taiwo Olawale’s shop with intent to commit felony and unlawfully damaged his goods, such as bottles, padlock, standing fan and stabilizer total value N20, 000.

He added that the offence contravened section 411, 412, 451 and 516 of the state penal code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four count charge of conspiracy, intent to commit felony, shop-breaking and malicious damage.

Senior Magistrate Bose Awosan granted a bail of the accused in the sum of N10, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Awosan added that surety must be family member as well as produce two recent passport photographs.

She adjourned the case till May 12.
