The reduction in the upsurge of crime in Osun State will receive my priority attention if voted as the next Governor of the state, the APC governorship candidate in the September 22 election, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has said.
Oyetola who attributed crime among the youth to unemployment and economic deprivation said ‘I am one of the people who strongly believes that part of the problem of insecurity in Osun State is lack of economic development and the absence of employment opportunities for our growing youths who graduate from colleges and universities, who rather than channel their energies and skills to positive gains turn to crime to survive ’.
Receiving a delegation of Peace Advocacy led by Mr. Innocent Idibia in his Ileri Oluwa office in Osogbo, Oyetola regretted that such youths believed that resulting to crime should be a key factor in solving their unemployment problem.
Stating that Osun people are very enterprising and have made it in foreign lands but find it difficult to come and invest their wealth because of insecurity and non-availability of the enabling environment to do so, assured that in his recreation strategy this would be a set objective.
According to him, his hand of philanthropic gesture apart from other areas, has been extended within the past eight years of his stewardship as the chief -of -staff in the Governor Rauf Aregbesola led-administration to many sons and daughters of Osun, through empowerment and job creation.
