The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) has announced plans to recognise some of the organisation’s outstanding partners with the 2015 OPIC Impact Awards for excellence in development.
The awards, which will be presented on May 19, will highlight the important work OPIC clients are doing in emerging economies around the world.
OPIC-supported projects in health, education, agriculture, renewable energy, small and medium enterprise financing and other sectors are helping create jobs, improve lives and stimulate economic growth in critical development sectors. Impact Awards will be given in five categories including Innovation, development impact; access to finance; renewable resources and American small business.
According to the statement, “Impact award winners were selected through a rigorous process that considered their focus in priority sectors or regions, innovation in overcoming difficulties, quality of results, risk mitigation practice, development impact and other factors, such as serving as a model in project development and execution.”
The OPIC Impact Awards were launched in 2014 and these inaugural awards recognised eight clients working in regions from Iraq to Togo to Honduras.
“We’re looking forward to honouring the winners on May 19 and sharing more details about each project in the coming weeks,” the statement read.
