Members of Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) have been advised to maintain a healthy relationship with traditional rulers of their various communities to eschew unnecessary discrepancy and achieve meaningful growth and development.
Governor Willie Obiano admonished them during their monthly general meeting, at the union’s office, Government House, Awka.
The members of the association comprised the President Generals in 179 communities in Anambra State.
While addressing them, Governor Obiano described them as very important factor in determining the progress of their community, adding that they play vital role in piloting the administrative part in various communities.
Obiano charged them to continue respecting traditional institute and create peaceful synergy with the traditional rulers for the peace of their communities.
The Chairman, Obiano Re-election Committee, Chief Victor Umeh, disclosed that the present administration had spent over N7 billion for the ongoing choose -yourself – community – initiative in every community.
While urging them to support in fighting Igbo agenda, Umeh pointed that the November 18 governorship in the state would determine the future of the South East in the next four years.
The National President, ASATU, Mr. Alex Onukwue, observed that Governor Obiano’s style of governance had introduced a new dimension in politics, whereby the people at the grassroots felt impact of government presence.
Onukwue assured the governor of their unalloyed support and unanimous decision to deliver him to consolidate on the signature projects he had commenced.
Highlight of the event was total endorsement of the governor second term bid by the association.
