The Nigeria Modern Pentathlon Federation (NMPF) has stepped up preparation for hosting Youth Olympic Qualifier for Africa and the Senior Africa Championship 2017 by unveiling its marketing consultants for the events.
President of the Federation, Dr. Jonathan Nnaji revealed to Extra Time that the marketers are to help solicit for sponsors to raise the sum of N75million needed for the two sporting events.
“Following the inauguration of the LOC last month we have hit the ground running by unveiling the marketing consultants today whose duty is to assist us get sponsors for the forthcoming Youth Olympic Qualifier for Africa and the Senior Africa Championship slated for December 4-11, 2017.
“The LOC have also constituted 7 sub Committees namely, Technical; Venue and Facilities; Protocol and Logistics; Security; Finance and Marketing; Media and Publicity and Medical to help step up preparations,” he said.
Nnaji further revealed that NMPF has written to Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State for the use of Teslim Balogun Stadium for the hosting of the events and called on Corporate Nigeria to key into the project which is going to be the first of its kind in the continent.
“We have been assured that for Nigeria hosting these events the country has already qualified for the Youth Olympics in Argentina next year.
Argentina also for being host has equally qualified alongside Nigeria; therefore we must do the needful by seeing that the events are successfully bankrolled by corporate sponsorship in order to actualize this great dream of the Federation.
“Let me also use the opportunity to appeal to the Lagos State Government, Corporate Nigeria, Philanthropist organization and the general public to come and partner with us
and also provide the needed financial resources that will enable us host a remarkable championship and prepare a medal-winning team for our dear country, Nigeria,” Nnaji concluded.
