[ICYMI] Local hunters kill suspected suicide bomber in Adamawa

What could have led to the death of early worshippers at a mosque in Gombi town, Adamawa State, on Monday, was averted when local hunters and vigilance groups shot dead a suspected suicide bomber, while headed for a mosque at Tashar Marghi area of the town.
A resident told Daily Times that “in the early hours of Monday, during the dawn prayers, a suicide bomber, carrying two explosives was shot and killed by local hunters.
“The development has re-ignited tension in the area following the suspected bombs deposited behind the Walawa hills by military aircraft,” a resident of Gombi said.
Meanwhile, fear has gripped Gombi town, as residents claimed to have sighted an aircraft with military colours, depositing bombs in the surrounding bushes.
The people became suspicious of the said aircraft, as it kept encircling the town for a long time, which made them to be alert and monitor it.
“However, after a long time of hovering over the town, it finally deposited weapons, suspected to be bombs, behind the Gombi hills,” a resident said.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said ‘’Yes, military authorities have confirmed to us that the bombs have expired, so people should not be scared”, he said, adding that the DPO of Gombi town confirmed the killing of a suspected suicide bomber.
