Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, believes that Nigeria is at the verge of making history for conducting an exemplary, free and fair general election.
General Gowon, who was at the Asokoro District polling unit 11 Saturday early Saturday morning to observe proceedings, however met no official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Nonetheless, he said that the Attahiru Jega-led electoral umpire will do the nation proud at the end of the day.
Accreditation began as 10:23 hours with a huge number of citizens queuing for the already belated process.
Notable Nigerians at the Asokoro unit 11 included one-time Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Uwais and the Director General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Mr Ita Ekpenyong.
Estimated 200 voters were patiently waiting to be accredited as at press time.
