The wife of the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello on Tuesday condemned the cutting off of the genital of a 2 months old Buhari by his step mother at Daikpe village, kuta community in Shiroro local government,describing the act as wicked.
The governor’s wife who reacted to the incident said it was heartbreaking to see an innocent boy, Buhari go through such a near death experience.
It was gathered that the 21-year-old step mother Baraatu Dauda is the second wife of her husband Mohammed Dauda who does not want the victim’s mother Bashira to give birth before her.
According to the findings the step mother carried out this wicked act when the actual mother of innocent Buhari went out to ease herself.
investigations showed that the first wife after seven years of marriage could not conceive and there was pressure on her husband side, he has to get the second wife unknown to him that Bashira was pregnant and the newly married wife was not happy about it and she planned to kill the baby Buhari on arrival.
The wife of the governor expressed happiness that the boy was still alive and assured that everything would be done to bring the perpetrator of the dastardly act to justice.
She said she had already put machinery in motion to ensure that the boy receives the best medical attention possible, so he can recover very quickly.
The wife of the Governor then appealed to members of the public to always exercise restraint when they are angry, so that innocent children or even adults don’t become unfortunate victims of unwarranted violence.
Daily Times also gathered that it was International Federation of Women Lawyers Association (FIDA), Niger state Chapter that reported the matter to Police for immediate investigation.
The Chairperson of the Association, Hajiya Maryam Jibo described genital removal of baby Buhari by his step mother as sin against humanity and wicked.
Jibo said that FIDA will follow this matter to its logical conclusion ‘enough should be seen enough of this heinous crime in our society.’
“We will take care of his hospital bills until he gets better if possible we will take him to Abuja for another medical examination to help the poor parents that cannot afford it.”
She urged police to expedite action on investigation and charge the matter to court without delay so that FIDA can take it up from there and bring the woman to book.
