Niger Gov Seeks Prayers for Incoming Govts

Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has admonished Nigerians to pray for the success of the incoming administrations at both the national and state levels saying that doing otherwise, will amount to a failure of the community.

Aliyu made the call in Minna on Monday, after commissioning projects executed by the managements of the Niger State College of Education and that of the newly established University of Education, both in Minna.

‘We should all pray for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government at the federal level and those that will take over in the states, we should not pray for their failure because failure will be failure of the community’ he noted.

Aliyu said the society will benefit the most, from the success of the new leadership to be installed in the country, which therefore requires the support and prayers of all Nigerians.

He, however, spoke against what he described as a plan to turn Nigeria into a one party state which he said will be undemocratic and inimical to the political growth of the nation.

As a result, the governor said there must be a virile opposition, meaning all those that lost out in the last general election, especially in the ruling People’s Democratic Party should not run into the APC.

He said PDP members should join hands to rebuild the party so that it will be formidable enough to confront the APC in the 2019 general election.

Aliyu blamed the defeat of the PDP at the federal level and in most states on the defection of five PDP governors to the opposition APC, as well as the merger of most of the then opposition political parties.
