Hundreds of worshipers at the popular Pentecostal Church (name withheld) located in Okpanam community near Asaba, Delta State scampered for safety during Thursday morning service when substances believed to be charms were found by the altar of the church.
The charms tied together with four cat heads, four native chalks and one head of owl (night bird) were discovered by the pastor in charge of the church.
Confirming the incident, the pastor who did not want his name in print, told our reporter that he arrived the church hall for early morning service when he stepped on the fetish substances, adding that he immediately raised an alarm that attracted some of the church members to the scene while others scampered for fear of the unknown.
His words: “I prayed on them and set fire on the charms, it is the second time I discovered charms in my church, God is in charge”.
He disclosed that few days back he saw a torch light inside the church hall, but before he could get there, the person put off the torch and immediately entered a waiting motorcycle, and zoomed off, adding that it was difficult for him to confirm the evil doers.
He called on pastors to be careful and prayerful as God remain the only answer to all problems. Some members of the church members who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said, “This is the second time charms are found in the church’s premises; how can people be that wicked? It is a pity, things like this are happening in the house of God”
