The anti-kidnapping squad of Enugu State Police Command has arrested the alleged killer gang of the Enugu state Deputy Governor’s orderly, Sgt Helen.
The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Onyeabor and Kanu Obi, were arrested a day after the incident at their hideouts at Lomalinda Independence layout axis and Amorji Nike axis of Abakpa in Enugu East Local Government Area respectively.
In a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, the suspects were nabbed through a well coordinated operation borne out of Intelligence information gathered.
The police spokesman said in the course of the arrest some members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds and called on members of the public and hospital operators about information concerning anyone with wounds suspected to be that of bullet.
The release read: “after a serious gun duel which left suspects fatally injured, some of the gang members escaped with wounds suspected to be that of gun shots.
It was further gathered that suspects who allegedly operated in their Mercedes Benz car, were out on that fateful day for their nefarious activities at a street off Nike lake road Trans Ekulu axis Enugu on 9/5/17 in the night when they met the victim.
Recall that some hoodlums last week attacked the deputy governor’s orderly who was returning from work and robbed her off her bag containing her phone and some amount of money and when the deceased allegedly put up resistance, she was instantly fired at close range on the head.
She was reported to have been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment where she was confirmed dead.
“Suspects are however regretting their actions having revealed that their motives was to rob their victims and that the resistance of the deceased brought about their pulling of trigger on her which got her on the head on close range”, one of them said.
“Police have recovered from suspects the deceased infinix phone amongst others, the release confirmed.
According to the PPRO, “The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force has assured members of the public that its hand is on deck in partnership with sister security Agencies, Members of the public, the Government and the good people of the state towards ensuring that environments are made safe and secured.
