PEF, NCDMB Get New Executive Secretaries

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday appointed Asabe Asmau Ahmed as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF).

Mrs. Ahmed, who is currently the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, takes over from Sharon Adefunke Kasali who has been Executive Secretary of PEF since 2007.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati said President Goodluck Jonathan approved the appointment of Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF).

The statement added that the new PEF Executive Secretary hails from Niger State and holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, respectively.

“She is expected to put her years of experience in public service to good use in re-engineering, repositioning and re-invigorating PEF for present and future challenges” the statement added.

In the same vein, President Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mr. Denzil Amagbe Kentebe as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Management Development Board (NCDMB).

Mr. Kentebe, an architect with years of experience in strategic planning and policy management, takes over from Engineer Ernest Nwapa who has been Executive Secretary of the NCDMB since April 2010.

President’s recent appointments with only few weeks to the expiration of his tenure has drawn the ire of the in coming All Progressive Congress who accuse the president of making the appointments in bad faith.

The president recently sacked the inspector General of Police, the Managing Director of the Nigerian ports Authority and also appointed the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
