Niger Delta youths, under the aegis of Niger Delta Youths Organisation Worldwide (NDYOW), have concluded arrangement to hold a solidarity rally for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential polls.
In a release signed by the president of the organisation, Mr. Uduak Bassey, and secretary, Mr Udeme Joseph, and made available to reporters in Eket Local Government Area on Tuesday, the rally would hold in the three senatorial district of Akwa Ibom from March 19 to 21.
The solidarity rally is to sensitise the youths on the need to exercise their franchise and vote massively for Jonathan’s second term in office.
“We abhor violence during and after elections, and it is our duty, as youths to advocate peaceful, free and fair elections, hence the need for the rally, which is also aimed at sensitising youths on the dangers of political violence,” the body’s leaders said.
The youths described Dr. Jonathan as God sent to the country as evident by the indices of development recorded in all sector of the economy especially in youth development and empowerment.
