The Institute of Human and Natural Resources (IHNR) has called on President-Elect General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to ensure that the local government system is strengthen and given its due recognition.
Representative of National Coordinator of Institute of Human and Natural Resources, Mr. Joshua Iruoma Azumara spoke during the induction of 2015 class of Associates and Fellows of the institute held at Wellington Hotel, Effurun, near Warri, Delta state.
He said that the nation would keep her pride of place among comity of Africa nations, when the local government councils are strengthened to perform better and bring the dividends of democracy closer to the people.
Azumara said that Nigeria have started an epochal change, a change that could lead the country to productivity and Eldorado and therefore urges the inductees to key into the journey towards making Nigeria a greater nation.
He however urged the new inductees not to bask on the euphoria of their new professional title but redouble their efforts in their respective place of work and know it is only a call for higher duty.
The South-South Zonal Coordinator of IHNR, Mr. Mills Munonye, spoke on the topic;”Nigeria’s 600 years of resources discovery and exploration-lessons learned so far”, while Dr.(Pharm) Cyril Olomukoro also spoke on the topic; “bringing out the first class you”.
It could be recalled that IHNR have few months ago carried out a training retreat for 74 Executive Officers and Head of Personnel Management of the Delta state Local Government Service Commission among whom have been inducted as Follows and Associates of the council.
