The High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, on Monday, ordered the out-going Governor Gabriel Suswam and eight others to desist from taking any action on the implementations of the Benue State Council of Chiefs and Traditional Councils Bill recently passed by the state assembly pending the determination of motion on notice.

In a motion filed by Tony Ijoho (SAN), counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Benjamin Adanyi, prayed the court to restrain Suswam and any other person from appointing or taking any step towards the appointment of any person to the proposed First Class Chiefs in Benue or such office by whatever name called.

The plaintiff told the court that the governor had already put in place a machinery to implement the contents of a law that was not properly or validly passed.
