After series of postponements due to technical hitches, the National Rail Transportation project, is however ready for inauguration by President Mohammedu Buhari on July 1, says the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaiechi.
The Minister, who was on a routine tour of the facilities, on Wednesday, in Abuja, agreed with the Chinese company in charge of the project that the operation of the railway was due to commence.
Speaking to journalists, shortly after riding on the new coaches, the Minister assured that July 1 was ideal for the inauguration of the full operation of the transportation project.
According to Chibuike Amaechi, the month of June, should be used for final test run, to ensure proper installation of all the facilities.
His words, “we are looking at first week of July for official opening, we are good to go. I can say that because I have confirmed all the facilities working perfectly, in terms of electrical, communications networking, which has not been there. We also have scheduled the month of June for the final test run to ensure that all is well before inauguration”.
