Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State is very optimistic that there would be employment boom this year. He said this at the 2016 Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Lagos State Government, held at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday.

He also said that artisans and skill vocations would thrive in Lagos. He made these remarks in reaction to the predictions of economic doom for 2016. The governor stressed that it would not stop the state’s economy from booming.

“We are determined to achieve inclusive progress in governance. Employment will boom, Lagos will grow in leaps and bound,” he said.

He thanked God for sustaining Lagos all through 2015 and for bringing him to power. He said despite the fears that the 2015 general elections would be violent, God took control.

Ambode added that he was happy that the elections turned out to be free and fair and one that led to a change in government, in which the opposition party took over power, while the government previously in power now became the opposition. “The fact that we are gathered here today shows that God is with us,” he said.

The event witnessed inspirational songs from the choir of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as well as gospel artiste, Frank Edwards amongst others.

Dignitaries at the thanksgiving service included Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, RCCG; Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Rev. Mercy Ezekiel of the Christ Pentecostal Mission (CPM), wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, wife of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs. Olusola Obasa; Most Rev. Ephraim Ademowo and Archbishop Adewale Martins.

Also present were Chief Kemi Nelson, All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Lagos, Rev. Felix Meduoye, General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church, Chief Judge of Lagos State, Olufunmilayo Atilade, Alabi David, Chairman, Conference 57; Rev.
