The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to host stakeholders in the country’s telecommunications sector tomorrow in Lagos to a forum, where deliberations on the next level of implementation of the Corporate Governance Code for the telecoms industry will take place.
The commission in a press release signed by Tony Ojobo, Director of Public Affairs and made available to Daily Times said the 2014 version of the Corporate Governance Code is currently undergoing a review and amendment and shall become mandatory thereafter.
“Deliberations at the forum shall usher in a new Code of Corporate Governance for the Sector. This Consultative Forum is in line with the Commission’s practice of industry-wide consultations before carrying out its regulatory functions,” NCC said.
NCC added that tomorrow’s forum, scheduled to hold at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos will serve as an avenue for stakeholders drawn from telecommunications operators, investors, financiers, Value Added Service (VAS) Providers and experts to deliberate on the next level of implementation of the Corporate Governance Code for the Telecoms Industry.
The commission added that, formal invitation has been extended to industry players, including the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), National Association of Telecoms Subscribers of Nigeria (NATCOMS), Nigeria Internet Group (NIG), and other stakeholders.
