The 3rd edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference organised by the Founder/CEO of BlackHouse Media and Publisher of Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET), Ayeni Adekunle held at the Ocean View centre, Eko Hotels and Suites might have come and gone, but the memories and of the event which took place on Wednesday, 23rd April, will continue to linger in the hearts of many who participated in the conference. The theme for this year’s event was Buying and selling Nigerian entertainment and everything in-between.
Sheyi Shay’s anthem rendition
Singer, Sheyi Shay gave a classic rendition of the National Anthem which opened up the event in a grand style. Sheyi who was also part of the panellists, did justice to the topic, How important is music royalties in the entertainment industry?
Singer, Eldee De Don resurfaces
For those who may have wondered what has become of foremost singer, ELdee de don who has been absent of recent from the music scene, it is because he has decided to leave music for good, preferring instead to pitch his tent with information technology. The former CEO of Trybes Men Records has since stepped up his game with his latest innovation, PlayData, a soft ware to help Nigerian singers keep track of their music whenever it is being played abroad. It is worthy of note that former singer gave the best speech delivery at the conference.
Between Shina Peller and rapper, M.I
Quilox Ceo, Shina Peller and Chocolate city artiste, MI Abaga were spotted in close contact, which got many thinking that the duo must have put the ugly incidence that took place at Quilox club behind them. M.I had gone on a rant on social media last month, complaining of the ill treatment meted out on him at the popular night club.
The many sides of Adekunle Ayeni
As if all the numerous things he has his hands on aren’t enough, multi-talented public relations personality and journalist, Adekunle Ayeni, added another feather to his cap with the official launch of the NET Orin application. Orin is a new music streaming website which provides music on the go for music lovers.
Dagrin, Zara, Goldie honoured
Even in death, the legacies of the trio of Dagrin, Zara and Goldie cannot easily be forgotten as the organisers of the conference honoured them with posthumor awards in honour of their struggles in the entertainment industry
The other side of Davido
Many have applauded Aye crooner, David Adeleke as being dynamic on stage but not many know that he is equally a good public speaker. The singer who delivered his note on how to make a hit song, took the audience on a 15-minutes demonstration. The self-styled O.B.O singer and his longtime producer, wowed the audience with their skills in the production boot.
Chris Ihindero unveils book
Movie Critic and producer, Chris Ihindero aroused literary appetites with the launch of his new book, Wanderings Of A Rapidly Degenerating Mind. The book, a compilation of 100 of the best articles from his weekly column Chris Ihidero Unedited, it is a six-part epic divided into sections which are Music & Showbiz, Books, People, Music, Issues of the Heart and Daring the Heavenlies.
Actress, Ini Edo visibly absent
Nollywood actress, Ini Edo who was among the panellists to speak on the topic, ‘How to sell the Nigerian content’, couldn’t make it. Her seat was conspicuously empty, making guests to wonder at what could have held her back from attending.
Tony Okoroji boasts
Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria ( COSON), Tony Okoroji, took pride in his job after he told guests how the body has been able to pay musical artistes, royalties over the years.
