The first ever Lagos Junior League symposium was successful Wednesday at the Sports Bar of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos with football veterans Muyiwa Oshode, Tunde Disu (OFR) and Segun Adenuga amongst others applauding Lagos State Executive Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for sustaining the U-15 Football programme that began in 2010.
Oshode who alongside Disu were products of Ahmadiya College Lagos before playing for defunct Stationary Stores, ECN FC of Lagos and members of Mexico ‘68 Olympic Games Eagles team were emphatic that the Lagos Junior League would produce more quality players after the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Dele Alampasu were discovered through the programme.
The Lagos Junior League is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Oshode was particularly excited that all 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas have signaled their interest to participate in this year’s edition.
Disu who is the Technical Director and Acting Executive Secretary promised a better organized Lagos Junior League while appealing for the usual cooperation of all stakeholders.
Chairman of the Lagos Junior League, Honourable Kamal Bayewu also assured that they would organize a hitch free-league, adding that they are determined to produce players that would be better than Ndidi, Alampasu and Iheanacho who are now playing with different clubs in Europe after graduating from the Lagos Junior League established by the Babatunde Raji Fashola’s regime.
The symposium which attracted many football stakeholders saw resource persons presenting papers on football administration and business.
