The Lagos State Government has said that it has paid N934.644 million to pensioners in the last one year of the Ambode administration.

This was made known on Friday, May 26, by the Deputy- Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Idiat Oluranti Adebule, at Alausa, during the ongoing Ministerial Press Briefing for Ministry of Education to commemorate the first year in office of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

She said that, “In the last one year, a total sum of N934, 644,082.39 was paid as monthly pensions for pensioners on the pay roll.

“47 pensioners, including deceased beneficiaries were also paid a sum of N67.665million as gratuity and accrued pensions”.

According to her, the prompt payment of pensions and gratuity to retirees was in appreciation of their service to the state and to also encourage those still in service to be more productive.

As a part of the state policy of inclusiveness and in appreciation of their service to the state, Adebule said that, “160 pensioners were hosted to a luncheon where they underwent free medical screening; health talk and welfare packages were also given to them”.

Adebule, who also oversees the Education Ministry, said that, the state government had, in the period under review, organised various capacity training programmes for education officers.
