The Kwara House of Assembly, on Wednesday, urged the Federal Government to include the construction of the second Niger Bridge linking Edu Local Government Area of Kwara with Niger State in 2017 budget.
The House made the call in its resolution after adopting a motion without notice on the non-construction of the bridge moved by lsiaku Aliyu-Adam, who represents Edu constituency
He said in his submission that the construction of the bridge would ease transportation of farm produce between the two states.
He said the construction of the bridge would also reduce travelling on river, which he said was risky.
Meanwhile, other members who contributed to the issue, including the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke, said that the construction of the second Niger Bridge was long overdue.
The Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, who presided over Wednesday’s plenary, urged National Assembly members from Kwara and Niger states to work towards the construction of the bridge.
The House urged the Kwara State Government to pursue the construction of the bridge to ease the transportation of farm produce.
