The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has advised the Abia State Governor-elect, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and other newly elected members of the House of Assembly to be magnanimous in victory and accommodate the losers in the just concluded elections.
National Commissioner, representing the state in INEC, Amb. Lawrence Nwuruku, while congratulating the victors at the INEC headquarters in Umuahia,where they collected their certificates of return, said that power belongs to God and urged them to make their administration all-inclusive.
Speaking on the occasion, Ikpeazu, whocollected hisCertificate of Return alongside his deputy, and Speaker, House of Assembly, Sir Ude Okochukwu, thanked Abians for voting massively for him during the election and assured them that he would protect the mandate they gave him.
Also speaking, the Deputy Governor-elect, Sir Udo Okochukwu, thanked the electorate for the confidence they reposed in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his principal and assured them that they would not fail them.
Reacting, a former governorship aspirant in the state and PDP stakeholder from Okinawa local government area, Arc. Dan Nwankwo, expressed joy that what seemed impossible over the years in the history of Ndi Ukwa/Ngwa had come to fruition, advising the governor-elect and his deputy to perform creditably well.
