‘Inadequate funding, bureaucracy hinder Army’s efforts to acquire equipment’

The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army has hinted that inadequate funding, diplomatic bureaucracy and other international bottlenecks were some of the factors militating against the army’s efforts of acquiring equipment.

Commander, TRADOC, Maj. Gen. Adeku Salihu, made this known at the Headquarters of TRADOC in Minna, Niger while inaugurating the 2018 research and development study period of the army.

“Procurement of critical military wherewithal from foreign nations to prosecute military operations and conduct training has been the usual practice in the country.

“However, funding constraints, diplomatic and other international bureaucratic bottlenecks have quite often, limited the ability of the Nigerian army to acquire the needed tools for optimum performance,’’ he said.
