Lagos State Government has declared Thursday, March 29, a work-free day in the State ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s two-day visit to the state. Yesterday, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, reiterated that there would be temporary road closure and diversions within Ikeja, Maryland, Agege Motor Road, Victoria Island and Ikoyi axis.
The restrictions on some major roads owing to the protocol of presidential movement has caused huge burden on many citizens, who may seem indifferent to the president’s visit.
Some Lagosians got more than they bargained for, all roads leading to the Muritala Muhammed Airport are blocked with no alternative routes provision, leaving passengers with no other options than engaging in a pilgrimage walk from the toll gate to the Airport
Nigerians took to Twitter to express deep regrets for inconveniences, saying the Lagos Government could have provided shuttles or more than a 24-hour notice
The listed roads would be reopened immediately after the President’s motorcade passes, while all flights will be grounded until the president lands
