As the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the first executive Governor of Edo State clocks 78 years, a chieftain of the party in the state, Mr. Soni Ehiosu Idahagbon, has described the elder statesman as a national Hero who still has a lot to offer Nigeria.
According to Idahagbon, who is the immediate past chairman of Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Committee, Chief Oyegun, a former Governor of Edo State, deserves to be celebrated given his political, economic and social pedigree in the political evolution of Nigeria.
The APC National Chairman has sacrificed so much for Nigeria fighting to entrench democratic government in Nigeria. This man we are celebrating has contributed so much to the development of Nigeria and has been hounded into exile during the struggle for civil rule with his role in the defunct NADECO which spearheaded the fight against military rule in the country,” he said.
Speaking further, the APC chieftain saluted the courage of the national chairman of the ruling party, describing his character as exemplary and deserving of emulation by people.
On the current agitation for restructuring, Soni Idahagbon dismissed the notion that the APC-led government has abandoned the cry for restructuring, an issue they campaigned with, saying that the national chairman recently inaugurated a committee headed by
Kaduna State Governor to work out a proper blueprint for the actual restructuring of the country that will favour all segments of the country.
He therefore called on all true sons of Edo State to rally round Chief Oyegun in the task of building a virile nation for the prosperity of all.
Chief Oyegun clocks 78 years on August 12, 2017.
