With the growing record label ownership by musicians since the recent unveiling of Lil Kesh’s YAGI records, one of the stronghold of Chocolate city record and rapper, Panshak Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, may be toeing that line too as he recently revealed via radio chat that he is no longer a signed act on the imprint of Chocolate city records. Ice Prince few days ago released another single with Mavin act, Korede titled ‘ Chike’ and it will interest you to know that on all the artwork and graphic designs used to promote the song, the ‘famous’ Chocolate City logo was conspicuously missing.
The talent’s manager, Tobi Sanni Daniels, who equally confirmed the artiste’s exit from the label said: ‘‘Just like everything in life, growth happened, there was a rise in his profile that has necessitated a rise in financial value and id very expensive for any label in Nigeria to afford and it didn’t make sense to attempt to stretch the company that far, but the last three years has been very cordial”.
He continued: “We chose to stay with the label even without signing papers because we understood the essence of loyalty, we are matured and we are one big family”. Concluding, he said: “So let me clarify once again that no one walked out of a contract, Audu will always remain his godfather and MI Abaga will always remain his mentor”.
