I did not wear shoes until I was 16 years — Useni

The Plateau State governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lt. General Jeremiah Useni (retired), has said he did not wear shoe until he was 16 years. Useni who is also the Senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly and a former Minister of the FCT under Sani Abacha, said he came from a humble background hence understands the meaning of poverty and promising to employ economic variables aimed at addressing hunger when voted as governor in the 2019 general elections. He stated this on Friday while addressing a group with the name Activated for Atiku Campaign (A4A), who were officially inaugurated in Jos the Plateau State capital. He said, “I came from a poor home and was only able to wear shoes at the age of 16. I use to tell my children that they are lucky. I understand the meaning of poverty and I am going to fight it when I become governor. “People are asking me why I am running for governor and my answer is, I want to restore the Plateau to the state where every Nigerian had always wanted to visit. I want to bring back peace, security and end hunger”, he said. Earlier the state Director Activated for Atiku Campaign, Janet Hule noted that A4A is primarily designed as a grassroots support structure for Atiku Abubakar the PDP presidential hopeful, and Jeremiah Useni, adding that the group will harness it’s vast network of PVC holders to support all PDP candidates across board.
