A Yoruba socio-cultural group, Odua Progressive Care Initiatives (OPCI) on Tuesday identified devolution of power as a holistic solution to the mirage of challenges bedevilling the country.
The National Coordinator of the group, Dr. Maruf Olarewaju, made the call for devolution of power in his address at the inauguration of the Kwara chapter of the organisation in Ilorin.
Olarewaju expressed worry that national challenge was becoming long and complex days-by-days.
According to him, with devolution of power, each state will develop at its own pace, thereby creating a competition among others.
The national coordinator of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, who backed the call for restructuring, explained that the political and economic structures of the country needed an overhaul.
Nigeria challenges cannot be solved overnight because it is long and complex.
States should be allowed to have their police and as well controlling their resources”, he said.
