Group hails Umeh’s victory in Anambra senatorial re-run election

A pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, the Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), on Tuesday hailed the landslide victory of Chief Victor Umeh in the Anambra Central Senatorial District Re-run Election.

The President-General of NUF, Comrade Augustine Chukwudum, made the commendation while speaking with the newsmen in Enugu.

“NUF congratulates Chief Victor Umeh’s landslide victory at the just-concluded Anambra Central Senatorial Zone Re-run Election held on Jan. 13.

The group, however, urged the victor to a true Igbo ambassador at the senate.

“This is because for sometimes, Ndigbo lacks fearless and true representative at the National Assembly especially at the senate since 1999.

“This is why we supported Umeh to champion the Igbo course at the National Assembly.

“We strongly believe that the Igbo Messiah has come; we call on all Igbos irrespective of political differences to support him to give us true representation we desire in Nigeria,’’ Chukwudum said.

He also lauded INEC for conducting a very peaceful, transparent and successful re-run in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.

“We also thank the people that went to exercise their electoral mandate on Saturday,’’ he said.

APGA won with landslide in each of the seven local government areas of Anambra Central Senatorial District, which included: Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia, Idemili North, Idemili South and Njikoka.
